Abstract

OISE-0609974 (Elaydi; Trinity University) U.S.-Japan Workshop on Discrete Dynamical Systems This award is for a U.S.-Japan workshop on discrete dynamical systems to be held at Okayama University of Science in July 2006. A diverse group of sixteen mathematicians from the U.S will join twenty five mathematicians from Japan and Europe for the meeting, which is coordinated by the PI and Professor Yoshihiro Hamaya. The workshop agenda will focus on recent developments in discrete dynamical systems and their applications to mathematical biology, particularly in epidemiology and ecology. It is expected that the workshop will produce joint publications and give rise to new collaborations among US and Japanese participants. The U.S group includes eight women, two African-Americans and three Hispanics; in addition, graduate students comprise one-third of the group.
