Abstract

The annual meeting of the Protein Society brings together protein scientists from a global community to meet and discuss the most recent advances in the field. The society is dedicated to providing forums for the advancement of protein science. The workshop will allow experts in the burgeoning field of biosensing (i.e., single molecule imaging) and educators to work together to figure out effective ways to implement the expertise and technology in the teaching environment. Broader Educational Impact Since 2001, the society has supported an Education Committee, whose mission is to mentor developing scientists, provide opportunities for pedagogical discussion, and to assist educators. Funding will support undergraduate student travel to the Protein Society meeting for participation in an undergraduate speaker session. The session is designed to give students a chance to disseminate their work, meet other undergraduate student scientists, and to make contacts for graduate school.
