MRI: Acquisition of a Confocal Microscope to Advance Interdepartmental Research and Training in Biomolecular Sciences at UW - La Crosse

Abstract

This award funds the acquisition of a laser scanning confocal microscope for an interdepartmental group of faculty with diverse research interests. This is the single most important piece of instrumentation to advance the research and education goals of these faculty in the departments of Biology, Chemistry, and Microbiology. The confocal microscope will be used in the training of over 200 students per year through laboratory-based courses, as well as other students involved in research. This training will increase the technological expertise of these students, who will enter graduate schools and the workforce.
