Abstract
This award provides funding for a three year continuing award to support a Research Experiences for Teachers (RET) Site program at Texas A&M University (TAMU) entitled, "Enrichment Experiences in Engineering (E3) for Teachers Summer Research," under the direction of Dr. Karen Butler-Purry. This renewal project will continue to match 10 inservice and 2 preservice, 8-12 grade math and science teachers each summer for three years with engineering researchers at TAMU. To accomplish the goal of involving teachers in engineering research the program has three major objectives: 1) provide engineering research experiences and enhance understanding of the nature of engineering; 2) scaffold teacher development of authentic inquiry activities; and 3) improve public school teachers' knowledge about careers in engineering.
