0630161 Hunziker This award partially supports a series of three national and international Frontiers of Engineering (FoE) Symposia by the National Academy of Engineering. They are: German-American, May 4-6, 2006 in Murray Hill, NJ; U.S., September 21-23, 2006 at Ford Motor Company, Dearborn, MI; and Japan-American, November 9-11, 2006 in Tsukuba, Japan. Many important and timely topics at the frontiers of engineering research and innovation will be covered, such as managing technology risks, cybersecurity and privacy issues related to computing and information technology, energy resources, nano/bio technology, intelligent software, biomechatronics, systems biology, etc. Between 60 and 100 outstanding young engineers will be involved in each Symposium. The meetings will create the opportunities for sharing of research insights and techniques that may spur collaboration and serve as a reference point for many of the emerging frontiers work in the U.S.
