Abstract

This experimental research program is aimed at experimental realization of molecular Electromagnetically Induced Transparency, all-optical control of molecular angular momentum alignment and a novel application of the Autler-Townes effect to create a method of designing target states. The proposed work will include the direct measurement of the spin-orbit interaction matrix element from the resulting line shape. In principle this control mechanism could be used to control the valence electron spin polarization all-optically. The broader impact of the program involves student training and exposure to international collaborations.
