Abstract
This proposal requests support for a broad program of inter-related topics in quantum field theory, string theory, condensed matter physics and mathematical physics. Among the topics are non-Abelain gauge theories in 2+1 dimensions as a way of gaining insight into similar theories in 3+1 dimensions, twistor string theory and the calculation of QCD gluon amplitudes, the quantum Hall Effect in Higher dimensions, and fluid dynamics in relation to the quark-gluon plasma. The PI's are highly productive theorists with a record of influential papers. The broader impacts of the proposal include the development of new techniques in one area and the application to problems in another area; the training of graduate students in this inter-disciplinary approach; access to a large and diverse undergraduate student body at City College; and collaboration with faculty at other colleges of City University.
