Abstract
0602834 Han This research proposed in this work is designed to investigate the effects of pulsatile flow. The PI intends to employ an organ culture model that can isolate the effects of pulse properties on the response in the vascular cell function and the matrix remodeling. The pulsatile flow technique is an extension of previous work, and is apparently unique in terms of the existing literature. The PI clearly lays out a set of experiments to be performed. The pulsatile flow amplitude will be systematically varied for defined periods of time, and a battery of tests will subsequently be performed to characterize the response.
