Abstract
Dr. Charles Liu at City University of New York, and Dr. James Webster at the American Museum of Natural History, will lead a collaborative effort to provide undergraduates experimental, observational, theoretical, and computational research activities in earth science, planetary science, and astrophysics, at the American Museum of Natural History (AMNH) in New York City. Students for this Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) site will be selected based on academic merit, motivation for conducting scientific research, and the recommendation of instructors and advisors. Aside from their primary research activities, students will also participate in Museum programs; attend field trips and scientific colloquia; and report on their work at the end of their experience in both a written scientific paper and a 15-minute oral presentation in a multidisciplinary scientific symposium open to the general public.
