Abstract
ABSTRACT Proposal Number: CTS-0619262 Principal Investigator: Wyslouzil, Barbara E Affiliation: Ohio State University Research Foundation Proposal Title: Support for the Nucleation Symposium Intellectual Merit The Nucleation Symposium will be held as part of the larger Colloid and Surface Science Symposium and will emphasize papers related to nucleation in the condensed phase, colloidal systems, proteins etc. Nucleation is the extremely important first stage of many macroscopic phase transitions and strongly influences the stability of processes and the quality of final products. The Nucleation Symposium provides the opportunity for researchers in the broad disciplinary areas of Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Physics, Mechanical Engineering and Material Science to come together and help to propel this important area forward. Broader Impact The participation of US students and post-docs in this symposium will provide an opportunity to interact with leading international experts and become familiar with the current state of the art of this field world-wide, exchange ideas and develop collaborative projects. The organizers plan to actively encourage graduate students and post-docs to attend, and would like to cover registration fees and/or provide partial travel support for all graduate students and post-docs from American Institutions.
