Abstract
A grant has been awarded the New York Botanical Garden under the direction of Dr. Jacquelyn A. Kallunki to prepare an online catalog for the plant specimens of Central and Northeaster states in Brazil. The collection in the NYBG herbarium of plants from this region is important for understanding the flora of this region. The database will be valuable to scientists studying diversity in Northeastern Brazil and other areas in the country, as well as for scientists studying diversity, geography, and ecology of plants in the region. Student interns and Brazilian collaborators will be trained in database construction and curatorial methods.
