Abstract
This award provides funding for a 3 year continuing award to support a Research Experiences for Teachers (RET) Site program at Columbia University entitled, "Columbia Engineering School RET (CSRET)," under the direction of Dr. Christian Meyer and Mr. Jay Dubner. The goal of this program is to enhance interest and improve performance in science and engineering of students in New York City area schools through increasing the professional competence of nine middle and high school teachers per year for three years utilizing the highly effective, well established infrastruction of the Fu Foundation School of Engineering and Applied Science. The teachers will work closely with faculty and graduate students on a range of research programs offered by Columbia which will provide them with an ideal laboratory research experience.
