Abstract

0549787 Ludwig Isoplot, by far the most-commonly used and broadly applicable program for numerical and visual interpretation of geochronologic data, requires continued maintenance and development to be relevant to both the needs of practicing geochronologists and as a graduate-level teaching tool for geochronology. This proposal funds these tasks for an additional year, including but not re-stricted to: -Further development of underlying mathematical algorithms -Expanding Isoplot graphical toolkit -Improving general ease-of-use -Expanding the Manual for Users to increase its value as a teaching tool. -Simplifying the computer code with greater internal documentation, to ultimately permit a plat-form-portable, open-source version of Isoplot. -Maintaining the Isoplot computer code to eliminate bugs and maintain compatibility with op-erating system and Excel versions. -Continuing support of user problems with installation or usage. -Placement of up-to-date versions Isoplot on a publicly accessible website, obviating the need for specific email requests. -Offering a "short course" for applications of Isoplot to isotope geochronology, to be given at one of the national geological conferences.
