Proposal Number: CTS-0553501 Principal Investigator: Luo,Li-Shi Affiliation: Old Dominion University Research Foundation Proposal Title: A Collaborative Proposal for Supporting US Participation in ICMMES Intellectual Merit The purpose of this conference is to bring together experts from the United States, Germany, France and Japan to exchange experiences, disseminate up-to-date information and to explore new opportunities in the field. The objective is the exchange of ideas, identification of opportunities for collaboration expose new or young researchers to the state of the art in the field of mesoscopic and kinetic methods methods for computational mechanics. Broader Impact The participation of young US students and faculty in this International Conference will provide an opportunity to interact with experts from Germany, France and Japan and become familiar with the current state of the art of this field in those countries, exchange ideas and develop collaborative projects. The organizers plan to actively encourage under-represented minorities, women, persons with disabilities and students in Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBU) to participate in frontier research by attending the conference.
