Reinstating the LSA Summer Meeting: Reaching out to Graduate Students

Abstract
With NSF support, the Department of Linguistics and Germanic, Slavic, Asian and African Languages at Michigan State University will host the newly reinstated Summer Meeting of the Linguistic Society of America (LSA) to be held in East Lansing, Michigan, 22-25 June 2006. The First summer meeting since 1983, this meeting will be oriented primarily towards graduate students, with the goal of fostering networking and interaction among graduate students and between Graduate students and more senior members of the linguistics community. NSF support will provide travel award stipends for 25-30 students selected to present a paper or poster at the conference.
