Abstract
DESCRIPTION (adapted from investigator's abstract): The goals of this project are to determine the efficacy of a group exercise training intervention in older women with breast cancer and to study psychological and physiological mechanisms which may account for the efficacy of the group exercise. Women 45 years of age or above with primary breast cancer will be randomly assigned to an individually customized course of exercise training or to an educational program for 16 weeks. All participants will continue to receive their usual oncological care. Outcomes will include measures of fitness, health quality of life, mood, self-efficacy, and hormonal as well as immunological parameters.
