NeTS-ProWin: Software Radio Testbeds: One Large, Many Small
University Of Utah, Salt Lake City UT
Investigators
Abstract
This project will focus on extending the existing Emulab based testbed with 80 additional PCs equipped with Universal Software Radio Peripherals (USRPs), as well as creation of an infrastructure called Emulab-Lite to support many small-scale testbeds. The enhanced testbed will not only be larger, but also provide better mobility support (with more capable robots), and better capabilities to measure and monitor wireless channels and RF spectrum. A "resource allocator" will be developed to facilitate the sharing of the testbed among multiple independent experiments. The Emulab-Lite will enable a subset of customizable features of Emulab with lower installation and operation burden, thus hopefully resulting in wider deployments. The enhanced Emulab and the Emulab-Lite testbeds will benefit the extremely large national and international research and educational community that uses the Emulab infrastructure.
