Abstract

In this award, funded by the Experimental Physical Chemistry Program of the Chemistry Division, Prof. William M. Jackson of the University of California, Davis and his post-doctoral and undergraduate research students will investigate the autoionization lifetimes of super-excited sulfur atoms as well as the ion-pair dissociation dynamics of carbon disulfide. In addition, they will conduct parallel computational chemistry investigations of these systems, in collaboration with Prof. Alexander Mebel's group at Florida International University. In addition to his research work, Prof. Jackson will continue to very actively recruit and retain members of historically underrepresented groups into the sciences.
