Abstract

0539997 Hoffmann This award supports a Doctoral Dissertation Enhancement proposal submitted by Roald Hoffmann, Cornell University for his graduate student, Anne Poduska. She will conduct experimental and theoretical research that focuses on the synthesis, structure, and bonding of open framework inorganic structures, and will define the role of some important parameters in the self-assembly of zinc phosphate architectures. For one-year she will be at C.N.R. Rao's institute, the Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research (JNCASR) and at the Indian Institute of Sciences in Bangalore. The JNCASR and Hoffmann's group at the Cornell, Department of Chemistry and Chemical Biology are two of the world's leading solid-state chemistry groups. In addition to the chemistry research, there is an outreach component that includes several science communication projects.
