Abstract
US-China Seminar of multiscale damage in relation to environment assisted cracking Submitted by Profs. George C. Sih and Herman Nied ME and Mechanics Department Lehigh University, Bethlehem, PA 18015 Abstract The effects of inhomogeneities caused by defects interacting with the environment at the nanoscale has been known to influence the macroscopic behavior of structural components. Such findings will be discussed in a US-China seminar hosted by the City University of New York, George Washington University, Lehigh University and Stanford University. It is the hope that the results will benefit those who are actively involved in research and teaching graduate students in the USA and China.
