Abstract

This award provides funding for a three year standard award to support a Research Experiences for Teachers (RET) Site program at Texas A&M University (TAMU) entitled, "Bioengineers and Teachers Working the Internet, Networks and Gemeinschaft: Research Experiences for Teachers," under the direction of Dr. Christopher M. Quick. This program which will be conducted at DeBakey Institute at TAMU offers a unique opportunity for 15 middle and high school math and science teachers to explore basic cardiovascular bioengineering research in an 8 week summer program. This program is designed to act synergistically with ongoing summer undergraduate research programs to provide a multi-level multidisciplinary experience. Through the eBat Project and the Wings Across Texas Program, interactive research and teaching experiences will be made available to teachers and their classes throughout the year following the summer experience.
