Abstract

The US-China NSF Workshop of Young Investigator Awardees in Bio and Nano Mechanics and Materials To promote the international collaboration among young researchers, the objective of this proposal is to organize a US-China Workshop for the NSF CAREER awardees and Chinese NSF Outstanding Young Investigator awardees to exchange the research and educational advances in bio and nano mechanics and materials, and to identify the future tasks. The workshop will be held in China in December 2005, and consist of sessions in different subtopics of bio and nano mechanics and materials. Both invited and contributed papers will be published in the workshop proceedings and posted on the workshop website. Selected papers will be published as a special volume in an international journal after a peer-reviewed process. A direct outcome from this workshop is that institutions, researchers, expertise and infrastructure in both US and China could be identified with capabilities to advancing nano and bio mechanics and materials.
