Abstract
This award provides funding for a three year standard award to support a Research Experiences for Teachers (RET) Site program at the University of Virginia (UVA), entitled, "RET Site: Instructional modules for integrating biomedical and nanoscale sciences in school classrooms", under the direction of Ms. Carolyn Vallas. This innovative, integrative research and training program includes faculty from four departments within the School of Engineering of UVA as well as the School of Architecture. A total of fifteen middle and high school teachers from the Albemarle, Charlottesville, and Richmond Public School systems will train and perform research during an eight week summer program and develop instructional modules in the biomedical and nanoscale sciences.
