Abstract
0433006 Padgett This research brings together physical and social scientists to study social networks. The research will look at data from Florence, Italy, over a 200 year period, to model and analyze why it was such a successful center for innovation in commerce and government. The emphasis of the research will be on modeling, and the tools to be used include random graphs, dynamic network modeling, and agent based modeling. The research personnel include expertise in these areas of modeling, as well as in the social sciences.
