Abstract

Metropolitan Community College is increasing the success of academically talented computer technology students with financial need by providing scholarships and support services. The program is increasing the number of individuals earning associate degrees in computer technology with an emphasis on electronic commerce. They are also providing scholarships to assist student transferring to four-year institutions to pursue baccalaureate degrees in computer science. Ten scholarships are awarded annually to entering freshmen declaring a computer science major and to eight students transferring to a four-year institution following completion of the Associate degree program. Scholarship recipients are enrolling as full-time students and maintaining a minimum of a 3.2 grade point average.
