Abstract

OIA-0330668 Teich AAAS The American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS), will host a symposium: "Vision 2033: Linking Science and Policy for Tomorrow's World" that will bring together distinguished speakers from academe, congress, and industry to discuss issues on science and technology confronting policymakers 30 years from now. Participants will discuss policy implications of science and technology on three major areas: Science, Technology and the Human Condition; Science, Technology and Global Security, and Energy, the Environment and Global Change. The conference will provide attendees with the opportunity explore the societal impacts and policy implications in science and technology in genomics, bioethics, and information technology, the effects of emerging energy technologies, global change on the environment, and how scientific discovery will drive the new technologies in the area of global security. The conference will foster communication among scientists, engineers and the public, increasing public understanding and appreciation of science and technology.
