Abstract
This proposal enhances the Survey of Earned Doctorates data records and analyzes the data to investigate the role that geography plays in the placement of new Ph.D.s going to industry. Specific goals of the project are: (1) Code verbatim files for placements; (2) Augment recoded records; (3) Create GIS codes for locations of industrial employers; (4) Analyze the data; and (5) Provide NSF with a documented data set that permits other researchers to analyze the data.
