Abstract

Scholarships are being awarded to academically talented low-income students majoring in mathematics, computer science or engineering. The selection process includes academic merit, science and mathematics background, and motivation. A special effort is being be made to attract applications from among qualified graduates of Arkansas community colleges. The scholarship recipients are being nurtured through proactive advising, community-building activities, presentations on career opportunities by industry representatives, and access to research opportunities.
