Abstract

babesiosis, the illness caused by the tickborne malaria-like parasite Babesia, is an emerging infectious disease for which existing antimicrobials are inadequate in immunocompromised hosts. There is a critical need for development of new therapeutics. A series of 28 imidazopyridine-containing compounds (ICCs) which have been identified as highly potent in vitro growth inhibitors of babesia duncani can potentially fill this need.
