Abstract
The goal of this project is to develop a secure platform to house population sciences related data from studies supported by DCCPS. This platform would specifically host non-genomic data while making them accessible to the cancer research community and facilitate integration to other tangential resources. NIH has been committed to data sharing to expedite âtranslation of research results into knowledge, products, and procedures to improve human healthâ. Apart from dbGaP, that for the most part is well known for hosting genomic data, there is no unified resource to store, share, access, analyze, and facilitate integration with other resources for data generated by EGRP supported epidemiologic studies. Currently EGRP supports 31 cancer epidemiology cohorts which have been and continue to generate rich data that are in many instances housed on premises given the lack a central and publicly accessible repository. This limitation significantly impacts (1) access, (2) utility, (3) democratization, (4) economies of scale, and adoption of FAIR principles. CBIIT already has the cloud-based Cancer research Data Commons (CRDC) in place which incorporates the Genomics Data Commons, Imaging Data Commons, Proteomics Data Commons, and the integrated Canine Data Commons. This has been accomplished through the Frederick National Laboratories umbrella contract to build and functionalize these various nodes.
