Abstract
This task order is being submitted in order to further develop Mito-HNK as a preventive drug for lung cancer in preclinical AC and SCC models (https://reporter.nih.gov/project-details/10696338). Initial pharmacokinetics (PK) and chemopreventive efficacy of Mito-HNK in has been demonstrated in those models. There is now definitive and convincing evidence that Mito-HNK is efficacious for prevention when administered early in the process of progression (starting treatment 1 week following initiation) in both models. This task order is aimed at expanding these studies to include testing for efficacy of Mito-HNK for interception of progression (starting treatment 12 weeks post initiation) of lung premalignancies in the same AC and SCC models.
