Abstract
Laboratory Animal Research Support & Model Development is a primary research support program which is developed, implemented and managed by VRC's Translational Research Program (TRP). This program provides advice on animal model selection, animal model development and searches for alternatives to invasive procedures to enhance data collection for research studied conducted by VRC investigators and collaborators across the NIH. The purpose and objective of the program is 1)provide professional advice, guidance, and assistance to the VRC Director, VRC Section Chiefs, senior staff, principal investigators, research support staff, and other staff on all aspects of animal research, care and use; 2) develop new research models supporting VRC studies and 3)improve current methodologies for animal care and research support which will enhance VRC research.
