Abstract
The Flow Cytometry Unit has developed clinical flow cytometric assays to detect malignant cells in body fluids, significantly enhancing the diagnosis of primary effusion lymphoma, multicentric Castleman disease, and other lymphomas/leukemias involving body fluids. These assays provide critical clinical support for patients enrolled in NCI protocols. Additionally, the laboratory has established expertise in evaluating hematopoietic malignancies in cerebrospinal fluid, where disease is often challenging to detect by morphology alone. The ability to detect malignancy in cerebrospinal fluid using flow cytometry plays a pivotal role in guiding clinical management.
