Abstract

We have continued our work with the protein technology core at the CSB to develop high-affinity binders to enable purification of complexes from native cellular expression. This has allowed us to target previously intractable protein complexes, and we have manuscripts in preparation describing structural insight from these studies. In addition we published a study in Nature Communications describing the structures of PepT2 in complex with two widely used beta-lactam antibiotics. Bioavailability of antibiotics is a significant problem in the treatment of bacterial disease, and this study sheds light on the transport of this class of antibiotics across the gut.
