Abstract
The primary goal of this trial was to assess the safety and the maximally tolerated dose of birinapant as a radiosensitizer in combination with re-irradiation (reRT) in locoregionally recurrent, surgically unresectable head and neck cancer patients who qualify for re-irradiation treatment. A secondary goal was to assess whether the presence of FADD/BIRC2 amplifications correlates with clinical outcome. The study completed accrual and the MTD and safety profile were determined. There is ongoing whole-exome sequencing of tumor samples to assess whether the aforementioned amplifications correlate with clinical response/outcome to birinapant/reRT.
