Abstract
This project has included a long standing effort to understand the basis of the immunotherapy responsiveness of renal cancer using state of the art tools. Many of the paradigms that define and explain the immunoresponsiveness of other cancers do not appear to apply to renal cancer. We have so far not consistently found neoantigen reactive T-cells in RCCs and RCCs do not appear marked by high mutational loads. Recent reports from Dr. Richard Child's laboratory indicate that T-cells against RCC may be recognizing re-activated human endogenous retroviral antigens. We are pursuing this by generating such TCRs for preclinical and clinical testing.
