Abstract
Accrual of NIH protocol 08-C-0214: "A Pilot Study to Evaluate Neuropsychological Outcome Measures and Their Relationship with Prognosis in Patients Receiving Radiation Therapy for Brain Metastases" participants and their follow-up has been completed and is nearing completion of data analysis. Molecular analysis of banked biomarker specimen data from patients enrolled on this study has revealed specific biomarkers in circulating blood that can predict for radiation-induced neurologic injury. We are continuing to perform radiomics algorithms to analyze the archived imaging data from our patient cohorts and performing correlative analysis to neuropsychological performance metrics. Differences in outcome and neuropsychological parameters have been captured and correlations between imaging and biomarker levels with proposed nomogram development for clinical use to monitor and detect radiation-induced neurologic injury is under development.
