Abstract

The main new finding is that in a large non-inferiority HPV vaccine trial, the 5-year efficacy of one dose of either of two FDA-approved vaccines is not inferior to the efficacy of two doses and is 97% or higher. These result validate our hypothesis that this would be the case. This is the first time that a single dose of a preventive subunit vaccine has been found to be non-inferior to two doses. The high efficacy is probably attributable to the repetitive nature of the virus-like particles immunogen.
