Abstract

We have acquired a scintillation detector that compensates for Cerenkov radiation. This has a detector that has a 1mm diameter with a 1mm length, which should be adequate for accurate output measurements of a 4mm diameter stereotactic cone. The additional advantage of this detector is that it is compatible with our IBA Blue Phantom II scanning water phantom. Due to other pressing work, we expect to begin measurements in the Fall of 2023. The loss of our machinist, who unexpectedly died has halted work on this project. Machine shop renovations are now complete and we are in the process of hiring a biomedical engineer with machine shop experience to run it. This process has been complicated by the fundamental restructuring of NIH/DHHS due to the transition to a new Government, post-election. We have a candidate selected, but cannot proceed until the overall personnel situation has stabilized. We cannot proceed until this issue is resolved. Afterwards, we will re-evaluate this project to determine how best to proceed.
