Formulation of Inhaled Bethanechol to Treat Excessive Dynamic Airway Collapse

Abstract

To date, formulation efforts have focused on developing analytical assays for bethanechol quantification, impurity assessment, moisture content and particle size evaluation, as well as reducing overall drug particle size, which is a critical requirement for targeted delivery of bethanechol specifically to the trachea. Initial work into excipient and carrier requirements also has begun. Once the conditions to achieve the target particle size have been verified, excipient compatibility screening, complete drug product characterization, pilot batch production and accelerated stability studies will be conducted.
