Abstract

Rapid Diagnostic Assays for Self-Monitoring of Acute or Rebound HIV-Infection: This program aims to support early-stage diagnostic technologies as platforms for developing simple, low-cost, rapid diagnostic assays to enable individuals to directly detect HIV-1 during the earliest stages of initial infection or to monitor viral suppression in chronic treated infection times when antibody responses are not an accurate surrogate for viral load. This contract aims to develop RT-PCR-based technology to measure HIV-1 viral load from patient-collected whole blood using a portable analyzer, single-use cartridges, and a simple user workflow designed for patients at home and non-technical staff in clinics and other decentralized settings.
