Abstract
In FY 2025, we used chromosome conformation capture techniques to determine where HPV genomes associated with the human host genome. We previously showed that hot-spots of HPV integration into the human genome in cervical cancer and oropharyngeal cancers were associated with transcriptional hubs in the human genome. We have discovered that extrachromosomal HPV genomes associate with transcriptional hubs and think that this predisposes integration into the host genome at these regions. These studies provide insight into mechanisms of HPV replication, HPV integration and oncogenesis, and help design therapeutic interventions.
