Abstract
Our research encompasses several key areas: evaluating tuberculosis (TB) treatment outcomes in pulmonary tuberculosis, investigating the impact of helminthic infections on type 2 diabetes mellitus, exploring how coinfections and comorbidities such as undernutrition modulate immune responses in tuberculosis, and studying the immune responses and pathogenesis of Multisystem Inflammatory Syndrome in Children (MIS-C) This work has been subdivided into the following areas: 1) identifying distinct TB-antigen stimulated predictive biomarkers for unfavorable treatment outcomes in pulmonary tuberculosis; 2) understanding the influence of helminth infections (particualarly Strongyloides stercoralis) on metabolic disorders with a focus on Type 2 diabetes; and 3) understanding the pathogenesis of Multisystem Inflammatory Syndrome in Children (MIS-C).
