Collection and Distribution of Blood Components from Healthy Donors for In Vitro Use

Abstract

From July 1, 2024, to June 30, 2025, a total of 128 new healthy research donors were enrolled in protocol 99-CC-0168. There were 605 apheresis collections and 231 whole blood donations successfully completed. To optimize resource utilization, each apheresis procedure or whole blood collection was designed to supply aliquots to multiple laboratories or investigators. Consequently, a total of 5,708 aliquots derived from these donations were distributed to various investigators. The NIAID and NCI continue to be the primary recipients of the research blood components distributed.
