Abstract

The Virology Core Laboratory (VCL) is one of four centralized Core laboratories supporting the mission of NIAID Division of AIDS (DAIDS) to perform assays for comprehensively evaluating the immunogenicity and efficacy of candidate AIDS vaccines in nonhuman primate (NHP) studies conducted by Simian Vaccine Evaluation Units (SVEU). Thus, the primary objective of the VCL is to provide support for activities to conduct, develop, acquire, improve, implement, validate, and analyze (data from) assays to detect, characterize, and quantify nucleic acid levels in samples from in vivo or in vitro studies investigating SIV, simian-(SHIV), HIV, and/or other infectious agents. In addition, the contract shall acquire and/or produce reagents, including viral stocks, for contract use and for distribution.
