Abstract

Project Summary/Abstract for PAR-25-003 Animal Food Regulatory Program Standards Implementation Maintenance, with Mutual Reliance Initiatives. The Nebraska Department of Agriculture (NDA) and its Commercial Feed Program are excited for the opportunity to continue its effort of maintaining the Animal Feed Regulatory Program Standards in the State of Nebraska. The State Program’s goals in maintaining full implementation of AFRPS is to continue to maintain its animal food safety contract in good standing with FDA throughout the period of the contract agreement; continue meeting all reporting obligations of the cooperative agreement along with usage of the Improvement Plan from Standard 9 to track and implement changes and improvements; and maintain risk-based firm inventory and enhance the criteria for determining risk. The State Program has begun Phase 2 of the SMG-8076 audit program and plans to conduct 3 audits for this fiscal year. In the Mutual Reliance Track, the program plans to conduct 5 to 9 non-contract comprehensive inspections in year 1 following FDA’s risk ranking and cover-by dates. Additionally, the program will utilize risk-based workplanning, work sharing and data exchange in an effort to eliminate the duplication of work, along with synchronization of firm inventories. The State Program will consider the possibility of increasing non-contract inspections for mutual reliance in years 2 and 3 based upon lessons learned in year 1.
