Abstract

ADMINISTRATIVE & RESEARCH SUPPORT CORE (CORE A): REVISED PROJECT SUMMARY/ABSTRACT The Administrative & Research Support Core (Core A) will provide leadership and guidance to the Center on Healthy Aging Behaviors and Longitudinal InvestigationS (CHABLIS) as it seeks to promote a sustained research and infrastructure development program that leverages longitudinal data from observational and interventional studies to examine how demographic and economic factors affect healthy aging behaviors (HABs) and outcomes among older adults. In addition to developing innovative research in line with the Center’s themes, CHABLIS aims to develop the next generation of research leaders in the demography and economics of aging by enhancing their research skills and helping to support their development of successful NIA grant proposals. The Center Directors David Meltzer and V. Joseph Hotz will work closely with an Executive Committee, Scientific Advisory Committee, and External Advisory Committee to provide governance, strategic direction, and administrative oversight to the Center. These committees will provide expertise in the demography and economics of aging, HABs, and longitudinal investigations in line with the Center’s overall themes and will represent a range of disciplines in the social and biological sciences, including economics, sociology, public policy, internal medicine, geriatrics, neurology and public health sciences. Core A provides five key services to the overall Center: 1) central leadership and governance, 2) strategic vision and direction, 3) logistics and operational management, 4) research support and education, and 5) communication with the NIA P30 Coordinating Center.
