Abstract
OTHER PROJECT INFORMATION â Revised Project Summary/Abstract Core D â External Network Core The network core convenes groups of investigators working on similar research themes at different universities and in different disciplinary fields to share ideas and findings, brainstorm, collaborate and plan for the continuing development of their collective research agenda. The network core is organized around the major themes of Center research, so that research development is not ad hoc, but instead thoughtfully focused on prioritized scientific areas. Each of the networks proposed for the next phase will be co-led by two researchers with complementary skills and backgrounds, in most cases from different scientific fields. Because a core aim of this continuation is to foster the talents of newer scholars, eight of the ten network co-leaders are also scholars at an early or early/mid stage in their careers, having received their PhD or similar degrees in the last 10-15 years. Their leadership mission is to plan gatherings that bring people together and to channel these meetings into new research projects and eventually independently funded research. The meetings will be a mix of large conferences, mid-size workshops, and smaller working groups, combining both in-person and virtual formats. We plan at least one major meeting of each network in each year of the Center continuation.
