Abstract

COMMUNICATION AND DISSEMINATION CORE: REVISED PROJECT SUMMARY/ABSTRACT The proposed Communication and Dissemination Core will showcase and share activities and achievements of the Center on Aging and Population Sciences (CAPS) across multiple audiences by engaging in four specific aims. Aim 1 is to communicate Center activities and accomplishments to the public, policymakers, and interdisciplinary scientific audiences by developing a user-friendly website, sharing information through newsletters, and maintaining an active presence on social media. Aim 2 is to disseminate research findings in formats tailored to scientific and nonscientific audiences through a Research Brief Series, a searchable publications database, and YouTube recordings of interviews, talks and workshops. Aim 3 is to promote the sharing of CAPS’s novel data resources through a Data Brief Series, a data portal for accessing CAPS-generated data resources, and data and methods workshops. Aim 4 is to cultivate cross-institution connections to disseminate the latest population-based research findings, methods, and data on topics related to CAPS research themes by forming and energizing institutional partnerships that focus on shared research themes. The Communication Core will play a central role in advancing the goals of the Center’s other cores. It will work with the Administrative and Research Support Core to track Center engagement and facilitate reporting on its accomplishments. It will collaborate with the Program Development and Pilot Core to advertise the Emerging Scholar Pilot Projects and Mentoring Program and Innovation Pilot Program and to ensure engagement with Development Core activities. The Communication Core will also promote the development of the new External Network Core on Aging SGM Populations and disseminate research findings and data resulting from Network Core activities. Overall, the Communication Core will increase the impact of CAPS by raising the visibility of the Center’s opportunities and outputs. The Communication Core will ensure that new research findings and data resources produced by CAPS scientists reach appropriate scientific and public audiences, and promote the overall mission of the Center.
