Abstract
Project Summary The External Network core (D) develops research networks around CDHAâs signature research themes and extends the impact of CDHA resources and scientific findings to broader scientific, policy, and lay communities. Core D staff organize and conduct seminars, conferences, workshops, and other special events that build diverse intellectual communities around our core substantive research themes and related methodological issues. This core oversees CDHAâs collaboration with other research units at UW-Madison as well as comparable research centers at partnering institutions nationwide. It also oversees CDHAâs broad outreach activities designed to engage a set of investigators from diverse career stages, disciplines, and institutions. It does so by sponsoring new-user workshops for data resources led by CDHA affiliates, offering professional development travel awards that enable emerging scholars to attend conferences and facilitate networking and collaboration; and providing technical assistance and consulting to external affiliates on preparing funding applications to NIH.
